BIOGRAPHY
Arguably the most dominant snowboardcross rider in the business, Lindsey Jacobellis started at age 11 racing snowboardcross at a local event held at Stratton Mountain. Jacobellis was first invited to compete in the X Games at the age of 15, and 2011 will mark her 12th year of competing in the prestigious event. Known for being very competitive and loving her sport, Jacobellis has enjoyed seeing the sport grow just as she has and is happy to be a part of it. Following a World Cup win, as well as two other podiums in the start of the 2010 season, Jacobellis was on her way to the Olympics. But not before stopping in at the Winter X Games in Aspen and taking her third gold in a row. Vancouver was a hard fought competition for Jacobellis, who finished fifth in the Games. She went on to take another World Cup win to wrap up the season.
LINDSEY SAYS
Obviously, I wanted to win the Olympics. I put a lot of passion into that but it didn’t end up working out, which can happen. But I did win an event right after, so I felt like I came back strong and wasn’t giving up. I still have it, but it’s just sometimes the way the sport goes and what you cannot control. As far as next year, the first contest is in Telluride mid-December. So as of right now I’ve relocated in Southern California and I'm working out every day, surfing, getting my pilots license and pretty much just living the life and living each day. And I have Gidget with me (her dog), and she is loving it, too!
FIRST TRACKS
Big brother "Benny" introduced "Lucky" Lindsey to riding in 1996, ten years later she's the World Champion and Olympic silver medalist - not bad for progression. You could also credit Stratton Mountain School for a program that allows students to ride everyday and go to high school.
OFF THE SNOW
I love fashion, shoe collecting, movies, ATVs and motocross.
