MOUNT SNOW, VT (Jan. 14) – Ben Farrow (Mount Holly, VT) and Shelby Simpson (Bondville, VT) stomped the halfpipe and the field taking the win in the U.S. Snowboarding Revolution Tour in Mount Snow on Thursday. Both Farrow and Simpson soared to new heights nailing tricks the entire way down the pipe.
The riders of the Rev Tour experienced a typical east coast day in Vermont. The sky was grey and the air was brisk as riders took turns throwing trick after trick in the pipe.
Farrow dropped into first after launching a wicked second run, contributing the win to the high amplitude. Farrow's gold medal run consisted of a front side five to a back side method to a front side seven followed by a cab seven ending with a front side nine.
"On my first run I was a little upset because I didn't quite pull it off as well as I'd like and it left me sitting in the back," said Farrow. "On my second run I was able to clean it up and went a little bigger. I was able to come away with the win."
In the women's competition the buzz was all about Simpson. Simpson laid down a top notch run that included a stale air into a straight air to a front side five followed by a back side five then tail grab into an air to fakie ending with a switch straight air.
"I thought I had really good speed on my first run," said Simpson. "It was a lot bigger and cleaner so it gave me more speed to do the tricks."
The Rev Tour picks up again on Friday for the slopestyle competition.
